As a K-Pop fan, you get used to seeing some strange and unbelievable news and rumors from time to time, since there are so many idols in the industry and so many things happening at any given point. Most of the more ridiculous stories end up being false or something netizens just made up, but on occasion they turn out to be true!
Recently on the K-Pop subreddit, fans were asked to share what they believe have been the funniest news stories (real or otherwise) in the industry. Here are 9 of their top answers.

In 2016, Pukyung National University attempted to book then-rookie girl group TWICE to perform at the college, but made the mistake of hiring the lesser-known group 2EYES instead. They even claimed in flyers they were handing out that TWICE would be performing, and had to apologize for their mistake! They did eventually get TWICE to perform at the university later on.

Three years ago, girl group WeGirls gained attention online due to the seemingly shady way they confirmed a member leaving. Netizens suspected that Ellie had left the group when their Instagram biography changed to read “We Girls 3rd Member rules: No Liar, No Hypocrites, No Alchol (misspelled), Youth and Passion”. Needless to say, the pettiness amused many people!

Earlier this year, then-Boys Planet contestant and now-ZEROBASEONE member Zhang Hao had an old social media post of his surface where he asked, “Why would opposite-sex marriage ever exist in the world?“ He later explained that it was his way of showing support for same-sex couples, and fans began to joke that the idol is a “heterophobe” in a playful way!

Finally, also earlier this year, Stray Kids leader Bang Chan had to address ongoing rumors that he had received a BBL (Brazilian butt lift).
