JTBC’s “King the Land” has shared an emotional sneak peek of its upcoming episode!
“King the Land” is a romantic comedy about the unlikely love story between Gu Won (2PM’s Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (Girls’ Generation’s YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.
Previously on “King the Land,” Gu Won struggled with his trauma about fake smiles caused by his painful memories of his mother’s sudden disappearance when he was a child. Although he returned to Korea and the King Hotel in order to look for information about his vanished mother, he made up his mind not to think about her anymore after hearing her friend explain that she’d had no choice but to leave him behind.
However, at the end of the latest episode of the drama, Gu Won was shocked to see his long-lost mother Han Mi So (Nam Gi Ae) suddenly standing before him again.
In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, Gu Won stops in his tracks when he encounters his mother, whose gaze is both longing and bittersweet as she takes in the sight of her grown-up son. However, in stark contrast to her gentle smile, Gu Won’s expression is ice-cold as he sits down to talk to his mother for the first time in many years.
A heartbreaking final photo shows Gu Won bursting into tears after his conversation with his mother. While he feigned an aloof, uncaring expression during their reunion, the moment he is alone again and can take off his mask, he breaks down sobbing—to the point where he has to lean against the wall to stand properly.
To find out why Gu Won’s mother has returned to see him—and what the two of them have to say to one another—tune in to the penultimate episode of “King the Land” on August 5 at 10:30 p.m. KST!
In the meantime, watch Lee Junho in “Homme Fatale” with subtitles on Viki below:
