Season 2 of “Arthdal Chronicles” has shared a glimpse of its first script reading!
tvN’s “Arthdal Chronicles” is an epic fantasy drama about the mythical ancient land of Arth. Four years after the end of the first season, the series will be returning for its second season—entitled “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon”—this September.
“Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon” will take place approximately a decade after Season 1, with Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung joining the cast as older versions of the original leads. Lee Joon Gi will be taking over the dual roles of twins Eun Seom and Sa Ya (which were played by Song Joong Ki in Season 1), while Shin Se Kyung will be taking over the role of Tan Ya (originally played by Kim Ji Won).
Meanwhile, Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin will be reprising their roles as Ta Gon and Tae Al Ha respectively.
At the drama’s first table read for Season 2, the entire cast got together to run through the script—with the notable exception of Shin Se Kyung, who had to sit out the reading because she had COVID-19. As many of the cast members had already worked together in Season 1 and were happy to see each other again, the atmosphere was especially lively as the actors reignited their chemistry from four years ago.
However, newcomer Lee Joon Gi also impressed those present with his masterful portrayal of both Eun Seom and Sa Ya. Even with just his voice, the actor managed to perfectly capture the polar opposite personalities of the two twins.
Additionally, Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin both reminded the cast and crew of their impactful performances from Season 1 as they disappeared into their respective characters, exuding powerful charisma and charm throughout the reading.
The producers of “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon” remarked, “(The reading) was a valuable time in which we could once again feel the actors’ passion and affection for the drama.”
They went on to add, “‘The Sword of Aramoon’ will depict the unavoidable battle between the hero Ta Gon and Eun Seom, who has become a mighty adversary, as well as the entertaining stories that stem from the diverse array of relationships between the characters. Please look forward to a fierce and desperate war, as well as finding out who will claim Arthdal and become the hero of a new legend in the final act.”
“Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon” is currently slated to premiere in September.
