Lee Junho, YoonA, and more have said goodbye to “King the Land”!
“King the Land” tells the unlikely love story of Gu Won (2PM’s Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (Girls’ Generation’s YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.
On August 6, “King the Land” aired its finale and scored an average nationwide rating of 13.8 percent (according to Nielsen Korea), the highest viewership ratings of its entire run. On the latest day of filming, the cast shared their gratitude to viewers and shared their closing remarks.
Lee Junho shared, “I sincerely thank all the staff members and (fellow) actors who worked really hard for this drama for the past 9 months or so. Because of you all, we’re able to conclude the drama well and safely.” YoonA remarked, “During the first script reading, I said that I wished we would be able to maintain a bright smile through the entire filming process of the drama. I am happy that we were able (to do so and) complete the drama well. I hope (‘King the Land’) can receive a lot of love. I am grateful that we were able to wrap up production safely. Thank you.”
After the very last scene that they filmed, Lee Junho commented, “Over the past year through all four seasons, we have enjoyed filming this project and we’ve worked hard for it. The shoot is over now, but we’re going to return as Lee Junho and YoonA and join you as we watch it as viewers.” YoonA added, “I hope it will be a drama that will remain in your heart for a long time and a drama that you can watch with joy and happiness.”
Finally, Lee Junho wittily remarked, “I’d like to sincerely thank the viewers. Thank you. I hope the days ahead of you will be full of salvation (‘Guwon’ in Korean) and love (‘Sarang’ in Korean) in your life.”
Go Won Hee, who starred as Oh Pyung Hwa shared, “As far as I remember, we’ve been together for quite a while since September last year. It’s unfortunate that it’s already come to an end, but I’m glad that we’re able to conclude (the drama) together here at the wedding. Since it’s a drama that also showcased a tight friendship, I think I’ll miss working with the other actors so much. Filming was always so much fun and I always wanted to come to the set as soon as possible, so I think this will be a drama that will remind me of that friendship (in the future too).”
Kim Ga Eun, who played the role of Kang Da Eul remarked, “We’ve been filming for about eight months, and while that may seem like a long time, I’ve enjoyed filming for it so much that I feel it’s a pity that I have to let it go now. Thanks to the positive Da Eul, I received a lot of good energy and was able to enjoy filming. I want to thank the directors, writers, staff, and my fellow actors for their hard work. Finally, I’m grateful to all the viewers who tuned in to watch ‘King the Land’ every week.”
Ahn Se Ha, who starred as Noh Sang Sik shared, “I feel sad that I won’t be able to see the members again in the drama since we had grown so close. I think I’ll remember (this drama) for a long time, I was so happy while filming ‘King the Land.’ The director was great and the staff was so kind to us on set, so I think I was able to film it happily. And to Junho, YoonA, Ga Eun, Jae Won, and Won Hee, the six siblings, I was very happy! Thank you.”
Finally, Kim Jae Won, who played the role of Lee Ro Woon, concluded by saying, “‘King the Land’ and the Pyung Hwa Ro Woon Couple have finally come to an end. ‘King the Land’ is a drama that contains the days and nights of hard work of many people. I, too, personally put a lot of love and sincerity into it, so please give it lots of love and look forward to it. Please always take care of your health and I’ll see you again with another good project. Goodbye!”
