A third-generation K-Pop idol shared news of undergoing surgery during her second pregnancy.
From 2012 to 2013, actress and singer Hwang Ji Hyun was active as the leader and main vocalist of the seven-membered group Gangkiz, gaining recognition for her exceptional singing abilities.
Gangkiz debuted in 2012 with their extended play We Became Gang, and just a year later, all the members except two departed the group. Although it was never officially announced, the group presumably disbanded sometime around 2014.
On August 1, the former Gangkiz member Hwang Ji Hyun posted about her emergency surgery on her Instagram.

She revealed that she had to lie down and receive treatment due to her short cervical length during her first pregnancy. Similarly, during her second pregnancy, she faced the same issue with a short cervical length and decided to undergo cervical cerclage surgery to prepare for a potential premature birth.
Hwang Ji Hyun described the experience, saying she had to lay flat for seven hours, but despite the pain, she could endure thinking about her baby.
I had to go through the torture of lying flat for seven hours without even lifting my head. When the anesthesia on my lower body wore off, the pain overwhelmed me, but I thought about how the baby is having a harder time than I am.

She also wrote a message to her baby at the end of the post, “Let’s endure this together and meet soon. You’ve done well.”
Many people left comments encouraging the actress; dancer Bae Yoon Jung, known for choreographing for many K-Pop groups and being a mentor in Produce 101, left a comment asking if she was okay and encouraging her.
Oh my, are you okay?? It must be a beautiful baby, making Mommy go through this much🥹

Born in 1983, Hwang Ji Hyun debuted as an actress in 2002 through the MBC sitcom Nonstop 2. She appeared in various K-Dramas and in 2011, she starred in the movie Ghastly. After her activities in Gangkiz, she appeared on various programs like Mnet‘s I Can See Your Voice in 2019 and married a non-celebrity businessman. She gave birth to her first son in February 2021, and last month, she shared her pregnancy news with ultrasound photos introducing her second child.
