The prospect of attending PSY’s concert initially seemed like an unattainable dream.
In a heartfelt move that has won the hearts of many around the globe, global superstar PSY —famed for his high-energy performances and iconic hit song “Gangnam Style” — once again proved that he is more than just an exceptional entertainer. The “Gentleman” singer is also a thoughtful and compassionate human being.
Last Saturday, PSY invited hundreds of soldiers to attend one of his exhilarating Summer Swag concerts, held in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, entirely free of charge. The electrifying news broke on Sunday when one of the soldiers who benefited from this grand gesture detailed the experience on his Facebook page, remaining anonymous in the process.
According to the soldier’s account, they had been engaged in civilian recovery work in areas that had been severely affected by recent heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding. The prospect of attending the concert initially seemed like an unattainable dream for these hardworking servicemen until PSY intervened.
PSY donated the tickets to the military units (in the region). Hundreds of servicemen and other military personnel had the opportunity to enjoy the concert and take some time off.

The unnamed soldier enthusiastically added on his Facebook post that he could feel PSY’s much-talked-about “big heart for military personnel.”
This heartwarming incident is not a one-off. PSY has a long history of supporting soldiers and boosting morale. In fact, just a few weeks earlier on July 15, he invited roughly 1,000 military service members and their families to his concert in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province. This benevolent star has even gone above and beyond, performing at military bases and treating soldiers to fried chicken and pork belly.
While PSY’s motivation behind these compassionate acts remains somewhat mysterious, some speculate it might be rooted in his personal military experience.
The singer was previously found to have neglected his duties during his initial military service while serving as an alternative service soldier, leading to him serving twice. Reflecting on this time in his life, PSY has said it was challenging but also an experience for which he was grateful.
Regardless of the reason, PSY’s actions speak volumes about his character. His generosity and thoughtfulness undoubtedly brought joy and respite to these soldiers, whose lives are dominated by duty and sacrifice.
For the soldiers lucky enough to be invited to his concert, the experience surely served as a beacon of light in the midst of their arduous duties.
