Exclusive: TREASURE Shares How They Have Changed With “REBOOT” Comeback, Future Goals, And More

TREASURE is making their long-awaited comeback!

On July 28, Soompi attended TREASURE’s press conference ahead of the release of their second full album “REBOOT.”

Regarding this being their first comeback in 10 months, Choi Hyun Suk commented, “Putting in a lot of thought into preparing this album while simultaneously carrying out our tour, 10 months have already passed by. We felt really apologetic because we just kept on telling fans to wait for us during those 10 months, but I’m really happy that the 10 months of our effort will finally be revealed to the world today.”

About making their first comeback since the official departure of two members, Jihoon responded, “As we always do, our members worked really hard on preparing our album together with the many people from our agency who help us with album production. We prepared this album while on tour, and so many fans came to see us, so we felt more responsibility to give back for all the love we receive with a more perfect album. Choi Hyun Suk added, “Because this is a full album, the 10 of us focused even more on the creation of the music and performances.”

TREASURE revealed that their new album meshes YG’s signature vibes with TREASURE’s own colors. Choi Hyun Suk elaborated, “Because we are the first YG group with a lot of members, I think there are definitely performances that we can do because we are a large group. There are aspects that we have looked up to while seeing our senior artists, but we also saw the strengths that specifically we could pull off, and we are polishing those aspects, so I think we can show what TREASURE’s own colors are in that way.”

Commenting on Yang Hyun Suk’s participation in TREASURE’s new album “REBOOT,” Jihoon shared, “He drew out the overall plan for this full album and helped out a lot with the editing and arrangement of the music, so I think the quality of our album improved and will be able to satisfy more people as a result.”

As the new album’s name is “REBOOT,” the TREASURE members commented on how they have changed with this comeback. Jihoon remarked, “I think our music has changed a lot, such as the image that our music is portraying. For example, a song like ‘MOVE‘ would have been difficult to express for the TREASURE of the past as we were young and inexperienced, but TREASURE now can express ‘MOVE’ very well. I think we have matured in that way.”

Jihoon additionally explained about their unit T5’s recent “MOVE” promotions, “By showing the more mature sides of our ‘REBOOT’ album in advance, it was like a signal that TREASURE is making a comeback with this kind of vibe in order to be less alarming to the fans and public.” He added that there is potential for more units in the future if there are songs that are fitting for certain members.

During their recent “HELLO” tour, TREASURE performed to a sold out crowd at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Regarding this, Jihoon revealed, “Because it was our first tour in Japan, we did not expect so many people to come see us. It felt like a dream to perform on a big stage like the Kyocera Dome. In the past, we used to say that our goal was to perform at a dome, so it was a really emotional moment at that dream came true.” He also said that their goal for this year is to perform at a stadium next.

On what they learned from the “HELLO” tour, Park Jeong Woo shared that the members improved their stage presence and live performing skills a lot through the experience.

Having recently signed a partnership contract with Columbia Records, TREASURE is now gearing up to expand their activities to North America. Jihoon commented about this, “It’s almost TREASURE’s final goal to perform all across the entire world and meet many fans, and we think our expansion to North America is a stepping stone toward reaching that goal. We think that by going to North America, we’ll be able to learn more and make even better music while interacting with more fans.”

When asked if they have hopes for greater results and success, Choi Hyun Suk shared, “It would be a lie to say that we don’t, but because we think of the stage and music to be the most important above all, we worked hard on preparing (this album) while thinking that the general public and fans will show more love if we continue to show good music and performances.”

TREASURE’s second full album “REBOOT” will be released on July 28 at 6 p.m. KST along with the music video for the title track “BONA BONA.” Check out teasers here!
